Top Christmas Movies to Light Up Your Holiday Spirit in 2024

If you are not already in the celebratory spirit, you should begin buying gifts, munching on candy canes, and perhaps even decorating a Christmas tree. Nevertheless, if that sounds excessive, another effective way to get into the holiday spirit is to simply watch Christmas movies.

Oldies such as It’s a Wonderful Life, the newer and funnier Elf, the ingenious animation of The Polar Express and so many more are available for streaming on Prime Video, Max, Disney plus and other such services.

Must-Watch Christmas Movies in 2024

1. Lost In New York Home Alone 1 and 2

Home Alone starring Macauley Caulkin (who else?) as Kevin McCallister is an iconic family picture especially around Christmas time. A seemingly perfect holiday vacation, that is, until two bumbling burglars played by Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern, take it upon themselves to wage an all-out war against Kevin.

Since you have already watched Home Alone, why not watch the sequel to that film as well? It can be said that Lost in New York where Kevin is en route to New York from Chicago and finds himself stranded at an airport is more outrageous than the original here.

2. Elf

Buddy (WILL FERRELL) is a real human boy, but he was 1 of the many elves raised in the North Pole. One very Christmas, he undertakes the arduous and very dangerous travel to New York City in search of his birth father.

One year, the Grinch, a malevolent Christmas hating caricature of a character invented by Dr. Suess and played stunningly by Jim Carrey steps out of his cave and into the hearts of the people of Whoville with the intention of obliterating Christmas. Even here, with all the green wigs, who can blame Carrey for all this Carreyism.

3. A Charlie Brown’s Christmas

Charlie Brown Sad, Hey, Christmas is a time of happiness and enjoyment. Why should Christmas be so heavenly? Christmas is one of those festivals that, without fail, restores order and peace in the world.

From the pleasant dances accompanied by a heartwarming soundtrack to Linus’s short yet endearing speech on what Christmas truly stands for, this cartoon has stood the test of time thanks to its numerous appealing factors. It never gets old.

4. The Holiday

Shameless flattery about Cameron Diaz’s excellent wardrobe and that ridiculous meme about Jude Law as Mr. Napkin Head have put Nancy Meyers’s 2006 movie back on everybody’s lips. The plot of the film stars Diaz and Kate Winslet, who, in order to avoid unpleasant romances, decide to change houses during the holidays.

5. A Christmas Wish (2024)

This movie, which has been released not so long ago, deals with a story of a single mother and her little girl who travel to a small town covered with snow for the holidays in order to begin their lives from scratch.

While they familiarize themselves with the area, they learn the meaning of community and even some connections, with some unforeseen twists along the way. The film’s moving story, as well as its festive spirit, makes it a worthy candidate for this year’s Christmas offerings.
